Hello and welcome! I'm Linda Minnick and my grandson,
Noah, has Cystic Fibrosis. I began Mid Valley Fibers as an effort to help raise funds for research to find a cure for this
disease.
The families of CF patients feel helpless at
first to deal with the disease. Your precious, precious little baby has a dreadful disease that will impact every hour of
his life and yours. We immediately found the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's website and learned about the advances that
have been made in the last 25 years. You see, my husband had lost a niece from a previous marriage to CF. That loss was devastating
to him. Naturally, our family was very concerned about my husband's reaction to Noah's diagnosis. Of
all the things that could have been the cause of Noah's failure to thrive, CF was the last thing we expected. It was like
lighting striking twice. After the initial shock wears off you try to figure out what you can do. We were very encouraged
by the discoveries and advances that have been made in the fight for a cure for CF. Raising funds to aid in the search for
a cure for Cystic Fibrosis became a tangible goal -- for all our family.
Mid Valley Fibers is an outlet for my obsession with yarn and beads. I am donating a portion of the proceeds from
every item to CF research. I will donate a much higher percent on some items like the CF Awareness bracelets.
I started knitting at the age of 10. My Aunt Tillie taught me the basics and I've been at it ever since. Knitting, crocheting
and now beading are as much a part of my personality as anything. When Noah was diagnosed at the age of 6 months, I volunteered
to babysit and I have enjoyed 2-1/2 years with Noah and then his sister, Rachel. Knitting is easy to pick up and put down
and I can always find time with the kids to get in a few stitches. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labor of love for
Noah.
P.S. Don't forget the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation when you are planning your tax-deductible, charitable
donations this year. Thank you.
